EPOC – Economic Planning via Optimal Control

EPOC represents another step advancement in application development, the first of a new class of mathematical application template systems (MATS) – general purpose model-input tools which use MetaCalculus languages as development platforms. EPOC was designed and programmed by Jim McDonough, currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Kentucky, when he was working at Prose Inc. This effort conducted for the Western Timber Association and Simpson Timber Company was to validate a forecasting program called ECHO, being contested with US Forest Service linear programming approaches.
